Regarding the acquisition, SageTV said its “ideas will reach an even larger audience of users worldwide on many different products, platforms, and services.” Google TV combines TV, apps and the internet, and the ability to search across them all. The service also enables users to begin watching a programme on one device, such as a computer, and continue watching it elsewhere, such as on an iPad. SageTV allows users to record live television, with support for antenna TV, cable and satellite. While Google did not immediately say what it has planned for SageTV, speculation includes the service will be integrated into Google TV. Internet search giant Google has acquired SageTV, a developer of home theatre software, for an undisclosed sum.
